I've been fascinated by HDR photography ever since seeing
Trey Ratcliff's work. Basically, you use special software to combine images at different exposures into one image that is a broader dynamic range than the camera sensor can capture in a single exposure. The result is a very vivid picture that can look natural or morphed into a painting-like image. I'm especially fond of the latter. Here's a couple of my first pictures, a train stopped near a manufacturing plant and a piece of farm equipment that I noticed on my way home from the range today. The farm equipment is a more natural rendering and I went for more of a painting effect with the train.
